‘Safer Parenting’
Advanced Workshop for Foster Carers and Supervising Social Workers (4 hours)
This workshop is aimed at Foster Carers who have previously attended Parent and Child Fostering Training either with us or elsewhere, although this is not an entry requirement. You will gain further knowledge on caring for babies who may be drug affected or are born with Foetal Alcohol Syndrome. We also discuss Shaken Baby Syndrome and learn about the tragic effects to an infant’s brain from just a few seconds of shaking.
Face to Face Training ONLY
Using our realistic, life size infant simulators Staff and Carers have the opportunity to see the effects these forms of child abuse can have on a baby. This workshop enables delegates to have an incredibly informed discussion about safer parenting, that they can then use in one-to-one sessions with their parent(s) in placement.
This workshop empowers carers and improves confidence in managing a placement where possible diagnosis of one or more of these conditions may be present.
Please note, we run a separate workshop like this for birth parents in placement, please contact us for details.
